Family Christian Store Names Max Lucado’s,Fearless, the 2010 Book of the Year

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Family Christian Stores announces that Max Lucado’s latest book, Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear, has been named its 2010 Book of the Year. This is the third time Lucado has been awarded Family’s Book of the Year; the previous awards for Lucado were 3:16–The Numbers of Hope (2008) and Next Door Savior (2002).

Family Christian Stores has been honoring a Book of Year annually since 2003. The national retail chain will promote this year’s winner, Fearless, throughout the year via consumer catalog advertising, multi-channel email blasts, website & social media promotions, and in-store signage and displays. In January 2010, Nelson and Ambassador Advertising distributed a “Fearless” Radio Special to more than 500 broadcast outlets. In February, a scavenger hunt through Facebook and FamilyChristian.com was held for consumers to find 10 Fearless images. The winners received autographed copies of Fearless.

Fearless, which first released September 2009 from Thomas Nelson, has exceeded all expectations for sales through Family Christian Stores and is currently the #1 selling book within Christian retailing. “Max Lucado has his finger on the pulse of what so many people are dealing with today: fear. And that’s why Family Christian Stores is so pleased to offer Fearless as our 2010 Book of the Year,” says Craig Klamer, Senior Vice President of General Merchandise for Family.

“The need for Max’s message of encouragement, found in the pages of Fearless, has only increased since the book’s release,” comments David Moberg, Senior Vice President and Group Publisher of Thomas Nelson.
